Today, the Academic Services Office of Mahasarakham University brings you useful knowledge about this system.

The National Health Insurance System (NHIS) is a system that ensures individuals and communities can access necessary public health services confidently without financial barriers. This includes health care, vaccination services, childbirth rights, dental services, medication and medical supplies, traditional Thai medicine services, rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, and the “30 baht healthcare scheme” that many have heard of. However, these protections are subject to certain regulations.

The **objectives** of the National Health Insurance System are:

– To ensure equal access to health services.
– To provide quality services that improve the health of service recipients.
– To protect against financial costs or risks when falling ill.

The **role** of local administrative organizations (LAOs) in managing and operating the National Health Insurance System includes:

– Preparing and managing the financial plan for the National Health Insurance Fund.
– Supporting or coordinating service units to ensure people have comprehensive access to public health services.
– Supporting expenses according to plans, projects, or activities.
– Executing and managing contracts or agreements.
– Maintaining accounts and financial reports.
– Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting the performance of the National Health Insurance Fund.
– Acting as the secretariat for the fund committee and enhancing the capacity of the National Health Insurance Fund.

From the objectives and roles of local administrative organizations (LAOs) in operating and managing the National Health Insurance System, it is evident that they play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for all citizens. This system ensures that everyone has access to essential health services, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the population.
